Ask three wedding halls in Lahore for a price and you'll get three numbers
that can't be compared. One quotes per head. One quotes a package. One
quotes a hall rental and then adds catering on top. None of them mention
tax until the end.
Here's how the pricing actually works, so you can compare like for like.
The two numbers that matter
Almost every venue in Pakistan prices on some combination of:
- Per-head catering rate — what you pay per guest for the menu.
- Hall or marquee charges — a flat fee for the space itself.
The trap is that these interact. Many venues waive the hall charges once
you cross a minimum guest count, which means a "cheap" hall fee can hide
an expensive per-head rate, and a venue advertising "free hall" may simply
have built it into the menu price.
Always ask for both numbers, and ask at what guest count the hall charges
drop away.
Typical per-head rates
As of mid-2026, wedding publishers covering Lahore were reporting
roughly:
- Mid-range marquees and halls: around Rs 2,000–5,000 per head
- Premium venues and hotel banquets: Rs 6,000 per head and up, often well past Rs 10,000
Two caveats worth taking seriously. First, these are ranges, not quotes —
the same hall charges differently for a Tuesday lunch than a Saturday
night in December. Second, rates have moved sharply: reporting through
2026 put prices roughly 30–40% above 2024 levels. Any figure you read in
an article, including this one, is a starting point for a conversation,
not a price.
The extras that inflate the bill
This is where budgets break. Ask explicitly whether each of these is
included:
- Tax. Punjab applies GST on top of catering — confirm whether the quote you've been given is inclusive or exclusive. At an 18% rate on a 400-guest event, that alone is a six-figure difference.
- Air conditioning. Frequently billed separately, especially in marquees, and it is not a small line.
- Decor. The base rate usually covers plain table settings. Floral centrepieces, stage decor, entrance setups and lighting are almost always extra and can run into the hundreds of thousands.
- Security deposit. Refundable in principle — ask under what conditions it isn't.
- Service charges and overtime if your function runs past the booked slot.
Lahore versus Karachi
If you're choosing between cities, Lahore generally comes in cheaper —
published comparisons in 2026 put it around 8–12% below Karachi for a
comparable event, largely because Lahore has more marquee supply competing
for the same weekends.
That gap is real but modest. It is rarely a good reason on its own to move
a wedding to another city once you factor in travel and accommodation for
guests.
How to compare venues properly
Work out a total cost for your actual guest count, not a per-head
rate. For each shortlisted venue, ask:
- Per-head rate for the menu you'd realistically choose
- Hall or marquee charges, and the waiver threshold
- Whether tax is included in the quoted figure
- AC, decor and any service charge
- Advance required and the cancellation terms
Multiply, add, then compare. A venue that looks 15% cheaper per head often
isn't once the hall charges and AC land.
