The groom's grooming gets roughly one per cent of the planning attention
the bride's does, and it is usually booked in a panic two days before the
barat. That timing is the problem β not the budget.
Almost everything worth doing needs to happen earlier than you think.
The timeline
Six to eight weeks out β start, if you're changing anything
This is when to begin a facial course, if you're doing one, and when to
start growing a beard shape out. If you want a look that isn't your
current one, this is the runway.
Three to four weeks out β the practice haircut
Get the cut you intend to have on the day, now. If it's wrong you have
time to fix it, and if it's right your barber knows exactly what to repeat.
Ten to fourteen days out β the real haircut
This is the sweet spot. A fresh cut looks fresh; a cut done the day before
looks like a cut done the day before, and hairlines settle over about a
week.
Five to seven days out β facial, cleanup, threading
Not sooner, not later. Skin needs several days to settle after a facial or
any hair removal β redness and breakouts after a deep cleanse are normal
and they need time to go.
Never the day before: a first-time facial, a new product, a bleach, or
anything described as a "treatment" you haven't had before. A reaction on
the day is unrecoverable.
Two days out β beard shape and nails
On the day β styling only
Wash, blow-dry, beard tidy, styling. Nothing structural.
What it costs
Prices vary enormously by the kind of place you walk into. As of 2026:
- Local barber: Rs 200β500 for a basic cut, no wash or styling.
- Mid-range salon: Rs 1,000β2,500 for a cut with a wash.
- Premium salon: Rs 3,000β7,000, typically including a fuller grooming service.
- Styling on top: Rs 300β1,200 for blow-dry and product; Rs 800β2,500 for a fade or textured finish.
Groom packages β bundling cut, beard, facial, cleanup and styling β
started around Rs 7,000 at the accessible end and ran well past that
at premium salons. A typical multi-service package might combine a haircut
(~Rs 3,500), beard reshape (~Rs 1,400), deep cleansing facial (~Rs 5,000),
hand and foot repair (~Rs 3,000β3,500 each), eyebrow shaping (~Rs 1,250)
and styling (~Rs 2,350).
Priced individually that is a large number; as a package it is usually
meaningfully less. If you're having more than three services, always ask
whether there's a package rate β many salons have one and won't volunteer
it.
What's actually worth paying for
If the budget is tight, spend it in this order:
- A good haircut, at the right time. Highest visible return, by far.
- A cleanup or basic facial, five to seven days out.
- Beard shaping by someone who has done it before.
- Everything else.
Groom makeup is offered by most bridal salons. Plenty of grooms want it
under photography lights and plenty don't β if you do, treat it like the
bride's and see it before the day.
Book the appointment now
The genuinely scarce thing is not the money, it's the slot. Salons are
full through wedding season, and the ten-days-out window before a
peak-season Saturday is exactly when everyone else wants an appointment
too.
You can browse men's salons in Lahore and
Karachi on ShadiNagar, see their rate cards and
packages, and book directly.
Prices reflect publicly listed ranges as of mid-2026. Confirm current
rates with the salon.
